Flashback… Cat and Cam are both opera singers. If you have read my bio, you know that I too am an opera singer. The opera singing photographer. It actually works out really nicely. I get to work super hard on my singing in the winters while taking part in some of the most beautiful weddings from Spring to Fall. This wedding was well into the opera season, but I had the perfect amount of time to travel out to Vancouver. I had just finished a role with Calgary opera the week before.

Now…to Cat and Cam. These two met in Vancouver while attending the opera program at the University of British Columbia. They are both outstanding artists who are up and coming stars in the world of opera. Their wedding was smack dab in the middle of their fall session at Yale. Yes. Yale. They were both accepted into the illustriousĀ opera program at Yale after UBC. I was lucky enough to join them for the rehearsal dinner at the Fairmont Pacific Rim What a view!?! I just had to include those photos. The rest…well…I’ll just let the photos tell the story.

Jenny and Clayton got married in the spring of 2012. It was a beautiful wedding in their backyard with only a handful of friends and family present. They knew they had to put together a bigger celebration for other family members and friends who were not there for the “official” ceremony. I was so blessed to be a part of this second wedding that was also held in their backyard.

When I met with Jenny and Clayton the week before the wedding, they still had many, many tasks to complete. The entire house, which they recently purchased, was in a state of chaos because of renovations. Clayton was going to his full time job and returning home in the evenings to work away at an endless list of “todo’s”. Jenny, who had just started her residency in the ER, was working late nights and endless hours. She was also trying to plan the wedding at the same time. Their idea was to have a humble backyard wedding with 30-40 guests and a fully catered meal from one of the best Dim Sum restaurants in Montreal. I was excited, and hopeful that Jenny and Clayton could get everything together in time for their big “second” day.

Following are the pictures from this beautiful day in October. We were lucky to get some sunshine to mix in with the beautiful fall colours for our short (30 minute) photo session at the base of the mountain. In Montreal, we call it a mountain. Back home, we would call it a pretty hill. But I digress. The day was set up perfectly for Jenny, Clayton and their closest friends and family to celebrate such a raw and beautiful love. A love that is undeniably present in everything they do.
